Physician Spotlight: Michelle Horvath, MD

Michelle Horvath, MD, is an obstetrician and gynecologist with Green Valley OB/GYN. She was Summa Cum Laude at Virginia Tech where she earned her biochemistry undergraduate degree. She completed her medical training at University of Virginia and her residency in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at University of Texas – Houston Medical School. She repaid her scholarship at UVA by providing medical services to the underserved areas of Virginia.

She serves in a leadership role for a variety of national, state, local and Cone Health boards and committees relating to women’s healthcare needs and issues. She is an active part of the Women’s Hospital Operative Services Committee and has served as a spokesperson for Cone Health on the risk factors of gestational diabetes and the importance offolic acid prior to and during pregnancy.

She has completed the Ironman Lake Placid 2011 triathlon, multiple half ironman races and four marathons, including last year’s Chicago Marathon. She enjoys skiing as well as road, mountain and cyclocross bicycling. She is married to Candice Bruton, PhD, who is executive director of the nonprofit organization Girls on the Run Triad. Dr. Horvath considers herself a “dog mother” to two rescues: Gracie and Raleigh. She’s also an alto in the Triad Pride Women’s Chorus.
